The course provides the learner with an insight into the structure of the internet by covering various interconnectivity involved in sending and receiving messages via the internet, and ethical issues to consider while engaging in tele-counseling. Building on that is practical and ethical issues the therapist (learner) should consider while engaging in video communication in counseling. Clinical issues in video counseling are also covered in the course by deepening understanding of specific clinical considerations the therapist should pay attention to in the process of providing support and counseling service to their clients. The discussion captures aspects of phone counseling by providing the knowledge required to excel in phone counseling as well as in voice-only methods used over the Internet. Also, possible challenges with phone counseling and voice-only methods and ways of managing them are covered. These have been presented in a simplified manner contained in a single video/recorded session to enhance learning for both new practitioners and experienced practitioners within the counseling profession.
