Community Sensitization on
Paedophilic Disorder

Community Sensitization on Paedophilic Disorder

Rape and abuse can lead to generational trauma, and the key to breaking the circle of child abuse is to stop[ the abuse before it happens. There are non-offending pedophiles in our society, people who have the urge to offend but are struggling with the disorder, the more we look the other way, the more we face the consequences of not talking about this monster that is ravaging our community. Stigmatization, ignorance, and conspiracy of silence are major issues when it comes to SGBV in Africa. The Institute of counseling is at the forefront of creating awareness about paedophilic disorder in partnership with women leaders and DSVRT.

Feed the Disable Project in Partnership With Tomi Waziri Foundation

Beyond feeding people with disabilities, there’s a need to offer professional counseling to them as well. The Institute was on the ground to offer free counseling to people living with disabilities.

Counseling for Dreams from the Slum Project

The Dream to slum is a laudable project organized by a group of people working for the betterment of society. The Institute understands that poverty of the mind is a major cankerworm in Nigeria and therefore partners with this group to offer professional counseling for these young and vulnerable teenagers. Cognitive resetting is essential to improve the self-esteem as well as the mindset of these young ones.

Supporting World Menstrual Hygiene Day

It was a sight to behold as World Menstrual Hygiene Day supported by the Institute of Counseling in Nigeria, ICN, extended its arms of love to Female staff and students of Child’s Will High School, Surulere, Lagos. Popular Sex Therapist, Relationship and Marriage Counselor, Dr. Tolulope Oko-Igaire (a.k.a THE FIXER) who was the guest speaker, enlightened the female students on; WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY, The Girl Child, Menstruation, Ways to maintain proper hygiene when menstruating, Practical way to use a pad, shared personal experiences and entertained questions. There were slogans that were learned among which included: “Menstruation or no Menstruation, Life goes on.” This encouraged the students that irrespective of the pains, anxiety, and sometimes shyness they go through on their period days, they should learn to be bold, positive, beautiful, and outspoken. Menstruation should never make them feel inferior. ” Girls run the world.” The girls were encouraged to influence their world because women are a GREAT INFLUENCE, generally unstoppable, achieving whatever they dream of.” Joyland pads were shared with the girls and were greeted with appreciation. The atmosphere was filled with fun, laughter, songs, pictures, and affiliation with teachers and students afterward. The students and staff of ICN had a memorable time together.

Ladies Time-Out at the Gym

Women in this part of the world are dealing with a lot of issues with no respite from any reasonable corner. The Institute understood the power of information and therefore organizes a quarterly time- out for ladies.

The program is usually packed with a lot of training and networking opportunities to help women in in their business and other areas of their lives. Institute of Counseling partners with other organizations to reach out to women by organizing quarterly sensitization workshop for women on healthy living, entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation and mental health awareness.

Training of Police Officers at Mountain Troop Headquarters Ikoyi.

It was very inspiring and enlightening as The Institute of Counseling in Nigeria, ICN, as part of her CSR, engaged the Police officers at Mounted –Troop Headquarters, Ikoyi, on COUNSELING RESOLUTION SKILLS FOR OPTIMAL ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE, CRESOP. Being a good police officer takes dedication, hard work, and a willingness to always be learning. It is no secret that it is a tough job. Notwithstanding , when there is a balance in the overall mental well being of the Police force, that is, family, work and social relationships, sexual health, personal development, e.t.c., they can uphold their oaths of allegiance to serve and protect the citizens they represent. The Institute of Counseling In Nigeria, being the foremost counseling Institute in the country is committed to making Nigeria a better place. Our profound gratitude goes to the police authorities; IGP Mohammed Adamu; ICP Imohimi D. Edgal,O/C, ASP Stephen Pam for making today possible. #optimalperformance #policeforce #counseling #mentalhealth #nigeria #mentalhealthawareness #nigeriapolice #counselinginstitute #csr

Continuous One on One Counseling Services for Nigeria Prison

An awesome experience it was at the #ikoyi #prison as the Institute of Counseling embarked on her CSR for the month. We realized that more than the food, clothing, toiletries and materials for comfort, #therapeutic assistance from counselors were needed to keep many #sane and their minds positive so they do not slip into severe #depression. Huge success was recorded as #suicidal #inmates made resolutions to live and fight for their lives, those who had fears for tomorrow were relieved and had their #hopes alive again, many were glad someone could just listen without being judgemental, those who were initially stiff warmed up to our amiable #ProfessionalCounselors. We could see how countenance changed a lot and there were testimonies. Inmates asked for more visits to keep them in check! Wow.
