Because loss is a universal phenomenon and part of individuals’ every day life, coping with grief and bereavement that comes after loss becomes a subject everyone must be concerned about. People react differently to loss and grief is individualistic in nature, whether it is loss of job, loved ones, home, self esteem, body part etc. People react differently to these losses and having a counselor to walk with them during these dark phases is very crucial. A lot of people have lost their minds, sanity and reason to live as a result of grief. If there was a counselor around to help during this stage, it would have been a different story. Grief & Bereavement Counselors can start their private consulting services or work as social workers, counselors in hospital for mothers who just gave birth and are going through some phases, old people homes, work with people who have terminal illness and waiting for death, the list can go on and on…. Grief and bereavement counseling is a very lucrative and much needed essential counseling service. This course will expatiate on the stages of grief, tasks of mourning, grieving rituals, a child and adolescent view of death, complicated grief, counseling the dying and other common issues related to grief and bereavement.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
In addition to the accredited certificate given by the Institution, students will also be awarded with CPD certificate. In order to start a private practice as a professional in this field of counseling, candidates are expected to combine this with the Certificate in Counseling course.
